HI… I don’t believe we’ve met…

Hi! I’m John, an award-winning former comedian and magician who spent years entertaining drunk people…

… until I realised I could use my wit, personality, and humour to stun cold audiences, make them snort with laughter, and persuade them to take action.

Now I show freelancers, business owners, and entrepreneurs how they can use their personality to get more sales without having to sound sleazy or salesy.

I’m almost embarrassed to admit that, as a copywriter and someone who should damn well know better, I’ve not had any real clarity about what I do, why I do it, and who I do it for a while now.

Working for a couple of agencies has turned me into a slacker.

Kinda reminds me of December when I was a magician…

LOADS of Christmas gigs in the diary, so no need to do any marketing…

… and then January and February come round…

So, even though I don’t have time for freelance gigs at the moment, I’ve started thinking about who I want to help, how I can help them, and what makes me different.

I came up with the “I was a magician doing card tricks for drunk people, so of course that is ideal training to be a copywriter” angle on the fly during an interview.

As soon as the words left my mouth, I wanted the ground to swallow me whole, but…

… ias I was BSing my way through it, I realised there WAS some truth in there…

As a magician, I had to get the attention of a bunch of random strangers whose attention span can most politely be described as “fleeting”.

Not only that though.

I’ve also gotta convince ‘em I’m worth listening to…

… AND deliver a message in a way that resonates and hooks them in and gets them to take action…

I want them to react and clap.

(It’s WAY easier asking the client for the cheque when she’s heard people clapping all night!)

Holy heck… being a magician IS like being a copywriter…

I know the freelancer and small business market is considered a challenging one but, after offering a few free consults last week, it’s one I really think I can help with.

Let’s be honest, there’s no point in me trying to push myself as a copywriting guru.

One day, maybe…

I don’t have the “I’ve written copy that’s sold 8 gazillion dollars worth of Tofu” brags, like some of the heavy hitters.

I do have a bit o’ bluster I can pump out though…

Like the time I wrote an email about Michael Phelps that landed a $40,000 DFY client…

… or the time a millionaire copywriter asked me to write his daily email…

So, while I’m not the best copywriter on the planet…

I CAN help you sell more stuff… communicate more effectively with your audience… and stand out from the competition.

I can make your life more profitable and easier.

I’ll be switching things up over the next few weeks and months to help you do this.

(“Switching things up” sounds a lot better than “deleting everything while swearing like a docker with Tourette’s who just stood on Lego”, right?).

I’ll also be adding a few extra things to the GOOGLE DRIVE OF AWESOMENESS!!!!

But… while you wait for those goodies…

If you’re a freelancer, entrepreneur, or small business owner who wants some quick and easy wins – without spending a penny…

… here’s how to get them:

Go to the GOOGLE DRIVE OF AWESOMENESS!!!!

In there, you’ll find:

1. “All The Emails” – an ever-increasing collection of email prompts you can start using TODAY to start building the “know, like and trust” factor with your audience, so you can start paving the way to making money from your list (without feeling icky about it).

2. “Easy Emails” – a simple, easy way to keep your list primed and ready to buy from you that takes just a few minutes a week to do. Never emailed your list before? Here’s a good place to start.

3. “The Sniper Approach” – got a dream client you wanna land? Looking for a cold approach that WORKS? The Sniper Approach is what you need. Great if you’re a freelancer, looking for a reliable way of getting new clients.

Emailing your list and developing a rock-solid client-getting approach are two of the best habits you can adopt as a freelancer, and those three docs will get you off to a good start.

That’s all for today.

Hope that’s useful. As ever, if you have a question, just hit reply and ask.

John

P.S. Oh, and if you want to discover the template I used to create my own bio, you can find that here.
