I’ll be honest, this is an email I never planned to write.

It was exactly two weeks ago when I barged into your inbox and declared my intentions to email you on a daily(ish) basis.

Moving from twice a week emails to daily(ish) was a big shift for me.

But, as a copywriter who wanted to help business owners write better words to get more sales, it made sense.

I’m glad I did it and I’ll write about my experiences of writing a daily email – and the benefits – in the future.

(SPOILER ALERT – it’s been pretty darn good)

… something’s changed.

It’s not you, it’s me.

To be more specific, it’s the new job I’ve just landed.

When I entered this pandemic, I was a magician who also wrote copy.

Correction – I was a magician who wanted to be a copywriter.

I was sick of the long hours on the road – of having to be in a specific room… at a specific time… wearing a specific pair of trousers.

(Don’t get me wrong, there are far worse jobs in the world than doing card tricks for drunk people. I knew that even before the Corona thing knocked us for six.)

I really wanted to be a copywriter, so I started this list, continued to practice, sent emails, read books, covered myself in Marmite…

… you know, the usual stuff.

I had a little bit of success getting on the radar of a copywriter in the US.

(You can read about this, and the sneaky way I got noticed in “The Sniper Approach” PDF in the GOOGLE DRIVE OF AWESOMENESS!!!!)

Well… last week, I used the approach again – and it landed me a full-time job!

To say that I’m super excited about this would be an understatement.

This is pretty freakin’ awesome.

The competition was fierce (hundreds, apparently)

I’m amazed that I made it through, but SUPER grateful I did.

To be honest, I’m still in shock.

I spent most of Monday evening looking like this:

Anyway, I’ve hit the ground running and there’s a LOT of stuff to get used to

(“What the hell is ‘Basecamp’? Do I need to buy a tent?”)

… so I’m going to have to focus on that for a while.

I’m not going to stop emailing you, but I might be leaning on the “(ish)” part of “Daily(ish)” for the foreseeable future.

Hope that’s OK?

Don’t get me wrong – I still want to help you.

I’ve just got to do what’s right to make the most of this opportunity.

For example, I had hoped to do an “all singing and dancing” relaunch for the “Funny is Money” book.

Due to time constraints, I may have to cut the singing and/or dancing.

(That was a shame, I’d hired Ariana Grande and a troupe of performing gerbils)

Long story short… I have no idea how often I’m going to be appearing in your inbox over the next few weeks and months.

I know that most people don’t give a hoot about this kind of stuff, but, to me, it’s important to give you a heads up.

There’s a lesson in that – when people opt-in to your world, like you did to me, make sure you treat them right.

Let them know what’s going on and why and when things might be changing.

You took the time to give me your details.

The least I can do is keep you updated.

Hope things are good with you and if I can be of any help, please let me know.

I mean that.
