ANOTHER Benefit to not lying

“With integrity, you have nothing to fear, since you have nothing to hide. With integrity, you will do the right thing, so you will have no guilt.” – Zig Ziglar

I’m a big fan of ol’ Zig.

Thanks to Spotify, he often accompanies me on my morning dog walks.

As Seth Godin is fond of pointing out, Zig is every self-help gurus grandfather. He went there, did it and got the very first T-shirt.

He was big on values, especially integrity.

Integrity is the bedrock of a happy life.

It’s also the bedrock of a good joke.

I’ve said before that you need to start from TRUTH, and the Ziglar quote gives you one reason why – YOU HAVE NOTHING TO HIDE.

The hardest part about lying is that you have to remember which lie you told to who. When the lies start stacking up, that’s hard work, something I often mention to Brad Pitt at our weekly Twister game.

Lying is hard work but, worse than that, it’s hard – UNREWARDING – work.

It’s the same with humour. If you’re creating jokes and gags that aren’t based on truth, they’re not going to have the impact you want. They’ll feel a little “off” to your customers.

It’s like you’re writing jokes for someone else…

…and not getting paid.

That is a terrible business plan.

If you’re going to write jokes, create social media images or craft some website copy, don’t hide.

Show us the truth…

…YOUR TRUTH.
