I think one of the biggest roadblocks to non comedians creating humour is mindset – the mistaken belief that they are incapable of being funny.
It’s not true.
I can say this until I’m blue in the face though (I won’t, as I have a gig tomorrow and it’s not Smurf themed), but the best way to drive this point home is by listening
People like Louis CK, Chris Rock, Jerry Seinfeld and Ricky Gervais.
Those kinds of people.
You’re in luck, because, through the magic of YouTube (it’s not really magic, I’m pretty sure it’s just a bunch of computer parts, various coloured cables and gerbils), you can see those very same people sit down and talk about how they create comedy.
It’s not as easy as you might think.
